Paid topics: the author puts a price in points on a topic; readers pay it once to unlock the topic forever.
The author is credited the price minus the site fee (5% by default, adjustable under Admin → Plugins → TabRe Pay to
Read). The currency is the forum's own points balance (fb_users.points) — the same one TabRe Bank, Store and Rating
use.

What it does

  • New topic form — a "Price to read (points)" field; 0 or empty means free. The price survives the review queue.
  • Topic page — the author and the staff get a small price editor (set, change, or 0 to open the topic again).
    Readers who already unlocked see nothing; the core access page withholds the topic from everyone else
    (topic.access), and paid topics stay out of search results and feeds for those readers.
  • Unlock — on the access page: the price, your balance and a "Pay N points to read" button. The purchase is one
    transaction: a unique unlock row (no double payment), a guarded conditional UPDATE debits the reader, points_add
    credits the author, and the fee simply is not paid out. Anything failing later rolls the whole purchase back.
    The author's share and the site fee are shown only to the author and the staff (the price editor), never to readers.
  • Lists — a solid amber coin pill with the price next to the title, hidden from readers who unlocked it (and the
    author). With TabRe Excerpts enabled the excerpt of a paid topic is stripped from readers who have not unlocked it.
  • Ledger — both sides appear in the member's points history with their own labels and a coin icon, each line
    linking back to the topic.
  • Notification — the author is told who unlocked their topic and how much the author earned.

Guests are asked to sign in first — paying needs a wallet.

Data

  • plugin_tabre_payread_price — one row per priced topic (topic_id, price, by, created_at).
  • plugin_tabre_payread_buy — one row per unlock (topic_id, user_id, price, income, fee, created_at),
    unique on (topic_id, user_id). Both dropped on uninstall.

Changing a price later does not affect readers who already unlocked.

Settings

  • Site fee (%) — default 5, allowed 0–50. The remainder is always at least 1 point.
