Optional "sign in to read" for topics: the author (or a moderator) marks a topic as members only, and visitors are
asked to sign in before they can read it.
What it does
- New topic form — a checkbox "Require visitors to sign in before they can read this topic"; the mark is saved with
the topic (also when it waits in the review queue). - Topic page — a toggle button for the author and the staff: mark or unmark at any time.
- Visitors clicking a marked topic get the core access page: the title stays readable, the body asks them to sign
in, and the sign-in button returns them to the topic afterwards (topic.accesshook). - Lists show a solid blue "Sign in to read" pill next to the title of a marked topic, for visitors only. Search
results and RSS feeds skip marked topics for guests, the same way the core withholds them. - With TabRe Excerpts enabled, the excerpt or preview of a marked topic is stripped from the list for visitors, so
the list does not leak what the page withholds.
Moderators, admins, and the topic author always pass (the core decides that). Members read freely; the mark only asks
guests to register an account or sign in.
Data
