TabRe Preset Avatars
A small gallery of avatars the staff uploads once; members pick one in Settings instead of having to make or find a picture themselves.
Features
- Admin → Preset avatars — upload up to 12 pictures at a time (PNG, JPG or WebP, 2 MB each), see the whole library, delete a picture.
- Settings → Preset avatars — members see the gallery and pick with one click. The picture is copied to their own avatar, so it works everywhere in the forum.
- No outside service — pictures are stored locally and served from
uploads/avatarpack/like any other upload. - Safe storage — the extension comes from the sniffed image type, not the uploaded name; files get a random 16-hex name; SVG and other active formats are refused.
- Deleting is safe — removing a preset never changes avatars already picked: each member keeps their own copy.
Settings (Admin → Plugins)
| Key | Meaning |

| Show preset avatars to members | Master switch for the Settings tab. The admin page keeps working when off. |
Where the pictures live
- Library:
uploads/avatarpack/<random>.<png|jpg|webp>(downscaled to 512 px on upload). - A member's pick goes through the core avatar pipeline:
uploads/avatars/<uid>.jpg(200 × 200 JPEG), so the avatar behaves exactly like an uploaded one. - The starter library is 48 original AI-generated portraits made for this site — 32 anime JRPG class busts and 16 stylized 3D cartoon characters — so there is no third-party license and no attribution to carry. The 1024 px sources live in
data/avatarpack-src/.
Notes
- The plugin needs the GD extension for the core avatar pipeline (
avatar_store()); without it, picking shows the core error message. - Files are stored under the site user;
uploads/avatarpackis created on first use. - No database tables; the avatar path is the core
users.avatarcolumn.
